The Power of Play: OUR TEAM Makes Us Special

DIRECTOR

Blair Strickland

She has been in the field of  Early Childhood Education for 16 years.  She attended college at Northern Arizona University and has a Bachelor of Science in Park and Recreation Management.  She returned to school and earned her Director’s credentials at Arapahoe Community College.  She has lived in Colorado for 11 years and her husband and their 4 children. Prior to becoming the director at St. Philip she was the Assistant Director for Christ Lutheran Church Preschool for 7 years.  Blair serves as an Officer for the Early Childhood Christian Directors Association as the Treasure and has been a member for 7 years. Her philosophy for preschool is to create safe, loving, engaging environment in which children can develop a life long love of learning.

STAFF                                                                                                                                                                                                       Staff Sun SafetyOur wonderful and loving staff consists of qualified individuals who enjoy working with young children. Our staff retention is extremely high, with an average of over 14 years. All Group Leaders (teachers) have formal education training and/or work experience in early childhood education and are qualified per the Colorado State Rules and Regulations governing Child Care/Preschool Facilities.

SPELC is a member of the local Colorado affiliate of the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) which offers seminars and workshops that our staff attend. The staff receives 15 hours of Professional Growth annually through seminars, workshops and in-house training on various early childhood topics.

All staff members are trained yearly in pediatric first aid, pediatric/adult CPR, and universal precautions.

GOVERNING BOARD

Our governing board is made up of currently enrolled parents, church members and administrative staff.

The board oversees school finances as well as program activities, joys and concerns.

PARENTS

Parents are an important and vital part of the SPELC program. We enjoy and look forward to parents helping out in the Emerald and Pre-K classrooms on a regular basis. We have an open door policy, please stop by and visit.
